The story behind the largest fountain in the US

You’ve seen this fountain on social media and likely have seen some info in local museums, but how did the World Famous Fountain come to be?

In 1970, Robert P. McCulloch (the man behind the reassembly of the London Bridge in Lake Havasu City🌉) purchased the land now known as Fountain Hills. With the idea of converting this cattle ranch land into a master-planned community, McCulloch envisioned and constructed the fountain as a dramatic focal point.

Charles Wood Jr. (the creator of Disneyland California’s layout🧞) then designed the Town of Fountain Hills, centering our homes, the downtown area, and in-town shopping centers around this incredible fountain and man-made lake.

For over 10 years, this WAS the largest fountain in the world. Now, this towering water feature is the highlight for local events, Fountain Hills’ lifestyle, and Arizona’s vibrancy.
